The Program
Let me start by telling you a little about myself and the services I offer at the Dream Team. I am a certified Teacher of the Handicapped K-21. I have my certification in both regular elementary education and special education in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I am also a Wilson Reading Specialist.
Here at the Dream Team I offer an after school private tutoring program as well as private summer school tutoring.I service special needs students from K-age 21 with disabilities ranging from minor LD to various degrees of Dyslexia, Autism and Life Skills Support. I believe I was placed on this earth to give these children a happy successful education and hope for their futures. I have dedicated my life to making sure their dreams come true.
We focus on things as simple as homework practice, handwriting skills, developing alphabet sounds, to things as in depth as learning how to read and write. It really depends on the needs of your child. I begin with an assessment of your child and a meeting with you the parent, to discuss your greatest concerns. From there we develop your child’s tutoring program.
I offer sessions from 1 hour, 1 ½ , to 2 hours depending on your child’s attention span and individual needs.
You are responsible for buying any materials for your child that are needed for the program. These will be yours to keep.Skills will be expected to be reinforced at home. Teamwork is a key!!
When I was in high school I did volunteer hours in the special education class. This is where my dream began. The children in this class were so motivated to learn! They all had different types of disabilities, yet they all accepted each other as one big family. The teacher, Mrs. Teri Lindner was an amazing woman with incredible energy and enthusiasm.
I was inspired by this woman and all she did for these students. She gave them a future. It was in this classroom, with these students, going to volunteer with them at their community service hours, that I knew I wanted to change the lives of children like them, giving children hope and the success that they deserved.
In my organization today I teach a variety of students, I use the Wilson Reading System and the many students I teach, and have taught, have become successful readers. It has always been my dream to have a school for these children so that I can reach as many children as I can. Children deserve to learn how to read!
